The spider support drives air directly to the 6-layer voice coil keeping it at an optimum temperature and avoiding compression. Another consequence of the cooling strategy means there is no need for a vent in the base plate meaning the sub can be mounted very close to the back wall of its enclosure. less distortion when the subwoofer is mounted in a compact enclosure.
